Seminar on

Global Market Opportunies for Indian Dairy Sector

December 5‑6, 2024, Grande C, Bombay Exhibion Centre, Mumbai

IDA (West Zone) is organizing a two-day seminar on "Global Market Opportunities for Indian Dairy Sector" during 5-6 December 2024 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, India concurrent with Inter Dairy - 2024. The objective is to explore, discuss, share and develop a strategy for promoting export of dairy products from India for managing the increasing milk production and better revenue generation. Industry and academic experts will present innovations across various areas of the dairy sector, from milk production management to processing technologies and marketing. Discussions will also cover issues related to quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Significant developments have been made in India in value-added dairy products, dairy-based ingredients, energy savings, digitalization, artificial intelligence, IoT, blockchain, packaging, and environmental protection. The seminar will provide a platform for stakeholders from India and abroad to showcase these advancements, contributing to the overall development of the dairy sector. Selected successful start-ups and young researchers from academia and industry will have opportunities to present their work during poster sessions.

India holds a strategically advantageous position among the world's five major milk-producing regions. Countries to the east, including Bangladesh, Myanmar, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines are largely milk-deficit. Similarly, countries to the west, such as Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Egypt also face milk shortages. Over the next 25 years, as India's annual milk production approaches 600 million metric tonnes (MMT), roughly 40-45% of global production, we anticipate a surplus of approximately 100 MMT, a significant portion of which we aim to export. Despite currently accounting for less than 1% of global dairy exports, India possesses tremendous potential for further growth. Beyond milk and milk products, there is considerable potential for export of Indian dairy equipment, vaccines, semen doses, Indian breeds, and expertise in training.

We cordially invite you to join this technical summit and explore the expansive exhibition, Inter Dairy, which will be held over three days.
